TE MĀHURI MENTORING ACADEMY

“Te piko o te māhuri, tērā te tupu o te rākau”

“How we nurture the young tree, determines how it will grow.”

Te Māhuri Mentoring Academy (TMMA) is a whānau focused program to support tama aged 8-12 (Year 5-8) in their social and emotional development, as this is a very important time in their lives.

By focusing on a combination of group activities, individual mentoring, and connections with whānau, schools and other supports, the program aims to support the tama to build supportive relationships, learn how to set goals, problem solve, self-regulate, and develop a strong sense of their identity and belonging.

This programme is informed by the Youth focused PARTH framework developed by Massey University.
